The budget of the New York City Housing Authority is not subject to approval or amendment by the City. U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires the annual budget to be adopted by the NYCHA Board prior to the start of the fiscal year. Any changes to the budget are not subject to review or approval by either the City or federal governments. As a result, recorded commitments, expenditures, and remaining amounts may not equal the approved Adopted budget.
