Overview

In July 2010, New York City Comptroller Liu launched the beta version of Checkbook NYC, an online transparency tool that for the first time placed the City’s day-to-day spending in the public domain.

Since the initial launch, the New York City Comptroller's Office has been exploring ways to increase transparency.

The newly released Checkbook NYC 2.0 website provides unprecedented access to view and track how New York City government spends its nearly $70 billion annual budget.

Using an intuitive dashboard approach that combines a series of graphs and user-friendly tables, Checkbook NYC 2.0 provides up-to-date information about the City's financial condition.
